Does this sound familiar?
"Mealtimes can be super stressful and I don't want that experience for my child and family"
"I'm on a waiting list to see a specialist but need help and strategies to try in the interim."
If these challenges sound familiar, you are not alone â itâs exactly why weâve designed this program.
Our OTs and Speech Therapists have designed a therapeutic program that helps children explore food in a low-pressure environment. It also helps parents understand the many reasons why children have feeding difficulties, and arms them with strategies and tools.
What the program covers
For many children, selective eating is a typical phase of childhood. However, some feeding difficulties extend beyond the typical phase and pose nutritional concerns, as well as significant mealtime stress.
This program supports children in their feeding and mealtime journeys through hands-on, play-filled activities. Developed by Senior OTs and a Speech Pathologist, it offers education, strategies and tools for children and parents. Children are invited to engage in sensory play, low-pressure food exploration, food creation and a wide range of activities to help build comfort and understanding around food.
This program also supports parents in a range of powerful ways. Through a series of evaluations, tools and checklists, parents can identify and understand the factors that could be contributing to their childâs feeding challenges. Theyâre offered a wide variety of strategies to understand their childâs unique needs and navigate their challenges.
The program does not replace the individualised expert intervention that may be required for some children. Instead, it helps parents identify the wide variety of professionals and other supports that may be available and necessary.
