Early Years Language Program
Created for ages 1 to 3, the Early Years Language Program is designed by speech pathologists and occupational therapists to nurture early language and communication skills in young children through interactive, play-based learning. By introducing new words, concepts and phrases, this program aims to support children in developing their speaking and listening abilities, making it easier for them to express their needs and feelings.
Through engaging activities like songs, shared book reading and structured play, children practise turn-taking, sharing and social interactions. Parents are provided with practical strategies to support early language milestones at home, fostering both verbal and non-verbal communication. This program aims to build a strong foundation for social and cognitive growth through joyful, everyday interactions.
Created for ages 1 – 3
NOTE: Some of the resources included in The Play Way toolbox are recommended for ages 3+. Adult supervision will be required when using these products and we would encourage you to use your discretion to determine whether or not these will be appropriate for your child.

Does this sound familiar?
"My child doesn’t seem to be talking as much as their peers do or their siblings did, and I want to help them catch up to expected milestones."
"My child experiences challenges in following simple directions at home and in the early childhood classroom, which makes it difficult for them to engage in daily routines"
If these challenges sound familiar, you are not alone. It’s exactly why we’ve designed this program.
This program is specifically designed to help support children build their understanding of language and communication development.

What the program covers
The program also offers parents and caregivers practical tools to support effective communication, including the use of Aided Language Displays (ALDs) that can help children of all communication levels to follow along and participate. By introducing concepts like turn-taking, sharing, and basic problem-solving through play, children are supported to grow at their own pace, gaining confidence in social interactions and learning that communication can be both rewarding and fun!
With a flexible range of structured and unstructured activities, Early Years Language Program allows parents to tailor play to their child’s developmental stage, from hands-on sensory exploration to interactive storytelling. The program also provides guidance for adapting each activity, encouraging parents to foster their child’s language skills in ways that feel natural and enjoyable. This program may be useful for children with language difficulties, communication frustrations or social hesitations, providing supportive tools to build a strong foundation for confident communication as they grow.
