Skills it can help build
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
01
Children learn to recognise and respond to their body’s signals, helping them build skills to meet their daily needs independently. Engaging activities encourage problem-solving and decision-making in real-life scenarios, promoting confidence in managing daily tasks.
02
Through guided activities, children explore their emotions and physical sensations, developing strategies for emotional regulation like deep breathing and mindfulness to manage stress and navigate challenging emotions effectively.
03
Interactive tools and activities encourage children to describe physical sensations and emotions, enhancing their vocabulary and ability to express needs clearly. This foundation supports effective language and communication and fosters stronger connections with others.
04
By recognising body signals such as hunger, thirst, or the need for rest, children build awareness of self-care routines. They are guided to take actionable steps to address these needs, fostering habits for maintaining personal wellbeing.

ABOUT THE VIDEO TRAINING
What the program covers
Building on the skills learned in the Emotions Part 1: Naming our Feelings Program where children learned to identify and label emotions, Emotions Part 2: Discovering our Body's Clues focuses on how these emotions are physically experienced within the body.
The Emotions Part 2: Discovering our Body's Clues Program empowers children to begin to understand the vital connection between their body and emotions. By recognising physical sensations, such as a racing heart, tight shoulders, or a growling stomach, children can learn to decode how their body communicates feelings like excitement, stress or hunger. This foundational awareness helps children better understand their emotional needs and take steps to address them.
The program incorporates fun, hands-on activities that introduce key body parts like the heart, lungs, and stomach, explaining how these parts contribute to physical and emotional wellbeing. By engaging with tools such as the Body Clues Card Set or Slimy Surgeons Kit, children explore their body’s signals in a playful, accessible way, enhancing their ability to interpret and respond to these clues with growing independence and confidence.
In addition, parents are equipped with practical resources to deepen their understanding of interoception and support their child’s journey. These tools foster meaningful conversations about body awareness, emotions, and self-care, strengthening emotional connections within the family. The program offers an interactive and supportive approach to developing body awareness, nurturing emotional growth, and empowering children to better navigate their feelings and needs.
This program is part of our series of emotions programs, with Emotions Part 2: Discovering our Body’s Clues emphasising body awareness and understanding. We would recommend completing Emotions Part 1: Naming our Feelings Program which focuses on the foundations of identifying, naming and becoming comfortable and familiar with talking about feelings.
