You know tummy time matters. But when your baby fusses, arches away or just won't settle into it, it's hard to know if you're doing it right, doing enough, or doing it at the wrong time.

This toolbox pairs with the Early Years: Tummy Time Program in the Hub and gives you everything you need to make tummy time feel less like a chore and more like connection time. The TAF Toys Tummy Time Trainer (with pillow, hoop, crinkling rainbow blankie and baby-safe mirror), exercise ball, bubbles, Whose Feet soft book, nursery rhyme card set, 11-hold instruction card set and facilitator guide all work together to help you explore different positions, add variety and find what your baby actually enjoys.

Over 30 videos walk you through each hold and activity so you're never guessing. The goal isn't just building your baby's neck strength and core, it's building your confidence too.

Suitable for ages 0-6 months+

WHAT'S INSIDE

What's in this play kit

A full kit of tummy time tools, curated to work together.
TAF Toys Tummy Time Trainer

TAF Toys Tummy Time Trainer

Containing a pillow and a round hoop to attach engaging activities like a crinkling rainbow blankie and baby-safe mirrors. The pillow sits under their chest, armpit to armpit, which takes some of the work out of lifting their head. We would start here, because you turn the ring rather than move your baby, so they have something new to look at before they get bored and unsettled.
Whose Feet? soft book

Whose Feet? soft book

A cloth book of dangly fabric feet to grab at, with squeakers and crinkle, and pages to turn to find out whose feet they are. We wanted a book you read lying beside your baby rather than leaning over them, so they see your face with the pictures. Swap the side you lie on each time to encourage them to turn their neck both ways.
Exercise ball and bubbles

Exercise ball and bubbles

Lay your baby tummy down on the ball and roll them gently, side to side and front to back, with a secure hold and well away from anything hard. These tools help support your baby in tummy time holds and add variety creating an interactive experience for your baby during your tummy time routine.
Instruction cards

Instruction cards

Eleven holds, one on each card, with a drawing and the steps written out. They are bound on a ring so the set stays together. Some suit a newborn who needs a lot of support, and others want a baby who already has some head control.
Nursery rhyme cards

Nursery rhyme cards

A picture on the front, the words on the back. We love them because singing gives your baby something to look up at and hold their head for, and it can keep them on their tummy just that little bit longer.
Parent Guide

Parent Guide

A short guide for you (the adult), covering what each hold is working on, the principles the whole kit is built around, and how to get the most out of it. Over 30 videos walk you through each hold and activity so you're never guessing.

Why we built it this way

Tummy time that fits where you already are

Tummy time that fits where you already are

Tummy time advice starts with a mat on the floor, which requires a settled baby and a free stretch of time. This kit brings other ways to incorporate tummy time: along your forearm, across your lap, up on your shins, over the ball. So you can try variations, no matter where you are or how much time you have.
You find the ones that work

You find the ones that work

Try a few and watch how your baby responds. Do more of the ones that worked and leave the rest for another day, because every day is different and things change over time. They value with this kit is now you have options to try and an understanding of why it’s important to prioritise it.
It does not have to be you every time

It does not have to be you every time

Your partner, your mum, your sister, whoever is around: plenty of them are not sure what to do with a baby this small. Put a card in their hands and they can see what to do, so your baby gets that time with them too. They can also watch the videos so they feel confident and up to speed with the tummy time options.

INCLUDED WITH YOUR PLAY KIT

The videos that come with it

Everything in the kit is ready to use from the day it arrives, so you can try the first hold the next time you pick your baby up. When you want the learning behind it, there is about forty minutes of video, in short pieces, and none of them run longer than five minutes. All eleven holds are on video, so you can look up the one you are about to try, and watch it until you’re feeling confident. There are also short pieces on the songs, the books, the ball and the bubbles. We'll send your invitation to access it all when your kit ships.

WHO THIS PLAY KIT IS FOR

If tummy time looks like this

  • I know that rolling and the crawling are coming, and I want to give them a good basis of strength before that.
  • I am not confident I am doing this right, and my baby seems to hate it.
  • There is so much advice about it and none of it really fits into the day we are actually having.
If any of that sounds like your days, this is who we built the play kit for.

Who made this

Kait is an OT. She has been working with children and families for nearly 20 years, and she has four kids of her own. She built this play kit because parents get told tummy time matters, and then left to work out when it fits and what to do once their baby is down there. The eleven holds in this kit are her answer to all of it. The holds, the cards and the videos came from our therapy team. Most of the holds need nothing but you and your baby, which is deliberate: babies love looking at faces, and nothing you can buy replaces the time your baby spends with you.
