The Sensory Regulation Play Kit is a children's sensory regulation kit put together by paediatric occupational therapists in Australia, for children with sensory needs who are learning to self regulate, and for parents making sense of big feelings, meltdowns and overwhelm through a sensory lens.
It includes seven tools: a SUNNYLiFE slip and slide with a body board, a SUNNYLiFE sprinkler mat that doubles as a shallow pool for contained messy play, a sensory play card set with thirteen activities including cloud dough, oobleck, kinetic sand, slime, shaving foam paint, texture boards, ice play and coloured rice, the supplies to run them including soap flakes, chia seeds, shaving foam and cornflour, a reflection card set, a creative projects craft kit, and a parent guide.
Every kit also comes with supporting video in The Play Way Hub, included, covering sensory processing, nervous system regulation, what calming and alerting input look like in an overstimulated child, and how to run each activity at home. Most families using this kit have a child somewhere between 2 and 10, but the tools were curated for what is getting in the way rather than for a birthday.
